The Eagle Ford Shale rig count dropped by a rig to 268 running over the past week.

In recent Eagle Ford news, Anadarko Petroleum has signed an agreement with Kinder Morgan and Magellan Midstream that will expand the Double Eagle Pipeline, enabling Anadarko to move more crude and condensate to the Houston Ship Channel.

The U.S. rig count dropped by 6 rigs from 1,757 to 1,751 running over the past week. A total of 372 rigs are targeting natural gas (2 less than last week) and 1,378 (4 less than last week) are targeting oil in the U.S. The remainder are drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.). 832 or 47.5% of rigs active in the U.S. are running in Texas.

[ic-l]The natural gas rig count decreased by one rig to 28 running this past week. At this time in 2012, there were more than 60 rigs and in 2011 there were more than 90 rigs targeting natural gas in the area. Don't be surprised if this is the bottom and we see more natural gas rigs this year. Natural gas essentially stayed level around ~$4.30/mmbtu on Friday afternoon.

The oil rig count held steady at 240 rigs running. WTI oil prices took a slight hit as trading resumed for the new year, dropping to just under $94/bbl by the end of the week. Eagle Ford light crude traded at $89.75/bbl on Jan 6th.

A total of 230 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, 21 rigs are drilling directional wells, and 17 rigs are drilling true vertical wells. Karnes, DeWitt, La Salle, and McMullen counties all have between 29 and 31 rigs running. See the full list of drilling by county below.

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count rose by two rigs to 269 running over the past week.

In Eagle Ford news this past week, TexStar Midstream signed an agreement with Calumet Specialty Products Partners to construct, own, and operate a 30,000 b/d pipeline system that will deliver Eagle Ford crude to Calumet’s San Antonio Refinery.

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count held steady at 267 running over the past week.

This past week, Rosetta Resources announced that it will spend approximately two-thirds of its $1.1 billion budget in 2014 in the Eagle Ford.

The company will spend $735 million running 4-5 rigs, with plans to drill and complete 90-95 gross wells.

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count increased two rigs to 267 running over the past week.

Marathon Oil held its analyst day earlier in the week and released an updated resource estimate for the company's Eagle Ford properties.

Initially, the company thought it would recover 469 million boe in the region and now expects that number is greater than 1 billion boe.

Marathon also plans to co-develop the Austin Chalk and Eagle Ford from pads where viable.

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count held flat at 265 rig running over the past week. The natural gas rig count rebounded from an Eagle Ford era low of 23 to 26 running this week and the oil rig count fell from it's all-time high of 241 to 238.

Forest Oil released its 2014 capital budget and provided production guidance this week. The company plans to spend 77% of its $290-310 million capital budget in the Eagle Ford and expects production from the play to double over the next 12 months.

[ic-l]The natural gas rig count bounced off an Eagle Ford era low of 23 to 26 rigs running over the past week. At this time in 2012, there were more than 60 rigs and in 2011 there were more than 90 rigs targeting natural gas in the area. Natural gas prices were up again, about 10% over the past two weeks, trading around $4.10/mmbtu on Friday. With the current cold, prices could stay around $4 or higher until spring.

The oil rig count decreased three rigs from the all time high hit for the second time last week to settle at 238 rigs running. WTI oil prices were up ~5% and trading above $97/bbl at the end of the week. Eagle Ford light crude traded at $93.75/bbl on Dec. 5th.

A total of 231 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, 18 rigs are drilling directional wells, and 16 rigs are drilling true vertical wells. Karnes, DeWitt, La Salle, McMullen and Webb counties all have between 25 and 31 rigs running. See the full list of drilling by county below.
