Eagle Ford Shale Rig Count Decreases by One to 264

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count decreased by one to 264 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent news, a study commissioned by the Texas Pipeline Association (TPA), claims the state’s oil and gas pipeline industry provided $33-billion in overall economic impact, and supported more than 165,000 jobs in 2013. During the same time frame, the study says industry provided for $18.7-billion in gross state revenue, and injected $1.6-billion in state and local revenue taxes.

The U.S. rig count increased by twelve to 1,883 rigs running by the end of last week. A total of 318 rigs were targeting natural gas (three more than the previous week) and 1,562 were targeting oil in the U.S. (eight less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.). 886or ~48% of rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

Eagle Ford Oil & Gas Rigs

The natural gas rig count decreased by one to nine rigs running by the end of last week. Average rig counts for natural gas production in 2012 were around 80 and then dropped to around 40 in 2013. Natural gas prices fell from the previous week to $3.78/mmbtu on Friday afternoon.

The oil rig count stayed flat at 255 rigs running by the end of last week. WTI oil prices decreased by ~$1 from the previous week, trading at $101.99/bbl on Friday afternoon. Eagle Ford light crude traded at $98.50/bbl on July 24th.

A total of 238 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, 13 rigs are drilling directional wells, and 13 rigs are drilling vertical wells. Karnes, La Salle, and De Witt each have at minimum 30 rigs running. The Eagle Ford Shale Rig Count is an index of the total number of oil & gas drilling rigs running across a 30 county area in South Texas. The South Texas rigs referred to in this article are for ALL drilling reported by Baker Hughes and not solely wells targeting the Eagle Ford formation. All land rigs and onshore rig data shown here are based upon industry estimates provided by the Baker Hughes Rig Count.

Eagle Ford Shale Rig Count Decreases by Six to 265

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count decreased by six to 265 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent news, Penn Virginia Corp. announced in July of 2014 that it will acquire ~13,125 (11,660 net) Eagle Ford acres in Lavaca County, TX for $45-million. The transaction will bring the company’s total Eagle Ford position to 142,500 (101,800 net) acres. The newly acquired assets are located next to the company’s Shiner area. Officials estimate ~150 gross potential drilling locations from the acquired acreage, most of which will be prospective for the Upper Eagle Ford Shale.

The U.S. rig count decreased by four to 1,871 rigs running by the end of last week. A total of 315 rigs were targeting natural gas (four more than the previous week) and 1,554 were targeting oil in the U.S. (nine less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.). 888or ~48% of rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

Eagle Ford Oil & Gas Rigs

The natural gas rig count increased by one to 10 rigs running by the end of last week. Average rig counts for natural gas production in 2012 were around 80 and then dropped to around 40 in 2013. Natural gas prices fell from the previous week to $3.95/mmbtu on Friday afternoon.

The oil rig count decreased by seven to 255 rigs running by the end of last week. WTI oil prices increased by ~$2 from the previous week, trading at $102.97/bbl on Friday afternoon. Eagle Ford light crude traded at $99.75/bbl on July 18th.

A total of 240 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, 11 rigs are drilling directional wells, and 14 rigs are drilling vertical wells. Karnes, La Salle, and De Witt each have at minimum 30 rigs running. Eagle Ford Shale Rig Count Decreases by One to 271

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count decreased by one to 271 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent news, Talisman Energy Inc. and Statoil ASA have tabled plans to to sell their joint venture in the Eagle Ford Shale after offers came in lower than expected, Bloomberg reported in early July of 2014. The companies were seeking around $4-billion for a 50-50 partnership, according to Bloomberg, which cited unidentified sources knowledgeable on the matter.

The U.S. rig count increased by one to 1,875 rigs running by the end of last week. A total of 311 rigs were targeting natural gas (flat from the previous week) and 1,563 were targeting oil in the U.S. (one more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.). 898or ~48% of rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

The oil rig count increased by one to 262 rigs running by the end of last week. WTI oil prices decreased by nearly $3 from the previous week, trading at $100.76/bbl on Friday afternoon. Eagle Ford light crude traded at $97.25/bbl on July 11th.

A total of 241 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, 11 rigs are drilling directional wells, and 19 rigs are drilling vertical wells. Karnes, La Salle, and De Witt each have at minimum 29 rigs running. Eagle Ford Shale Rig Count Increases by Two to 272

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count increased by two to 272 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent Eagle Ford news, The Energy Information Administration (EIA) recently released data showing the state produced just over 3 million b/d of crude oil in April of 2013, reaching production levels not seen in the state since the 70s. The rise in Texas’ oil production is thanks in large part to the tight oil and shale gas revolution in the Eagle Ford, and made possible by advancements in horizontal drilling and fracking technology.

The U.S. rig count increased by one to 1,874 rigs running by the end of last week. A total of 311 rigs were targeting natural gas (three less than the previous week) and 1,562 were targeting oil in the U.S. (four more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.). 896or ~48% of rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

A total of 241 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, 13 rigs are drilling directional wells, and 18 rigs are drilling vertical wells. Karnes, La Salle, and De Witt each have at minimum 30 rigs running. Eagle Ford Shale Rig Count Decreases by One to 270

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count decreased by one to 270 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent Eagle Ford news, after nearly four decades, the Obama administration has opened the door for U.S. exports of unrefined American oil, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). The decision was approved in a private ruling by the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security, and will for now allow only two companies, Pioneer Natural Resources Co. and Enterprise Product Partners LP, to export Eagle Ford condensate to foreign buyers. Shipments, which are likely to be small, could begin as early as August.

The U.S. rig count increased by 15 to 1,873 rigs running by the end of last week. A total of 314 rigs were targeting natural gas (three more than the previous week) and 1,545 were targeting oil in the U.S. (13 more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.). 889or ~48% of rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

The oil rig count remained flat at 259 rigs running by the end of last week. WTI oil prices decreased slightly from the previous week, trading at $105.62/bbl on Friday afternoon. Eagle Ford light crude traded at $102.25/bbl on June 26th.

A total of 239 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, 13 rigs are drilling directional wells, and 18 rigs are drilling vertical wells. Karnes, La Salle, and De Witt each have at minimum 29 rigs running.
